Take your travels straight to video at www.compulsivetraveler.tv

Contest Invites Quality Video Uploads for Cash Awards & National Cable TV Exposure for Top Nine Videos. Travellers around the world are getting into the act, taking their travels straight to video as user-generated sites proliferate on the Web.

Yet storytelling is an art not everyone who hits the “shoot” button has mastered – and the quality of videos on travel sites varies widely. Now one of travel’s savviest video storytellers – a compulsive traveller and originator of the CBS TV special by the same name – has launched a web-based contest that promises to take the best videos submitted at www.compulsivetraveler.tv straight to national cable television.

This is the big news in a Press Release from The Compulsive Traveler, New York, NY, 29 August, 2007. The company`s slogan is Videos for Travelers, by Travelers. It`s running a contest to select the best videos to be featured in a Compulsive Traveler TV show.

The new website www.compulsivetraveler.tv, dedicated to airing top quality travel-related videos, has been launched by Roberto Mitrotti, the original compulsive traveller and host of “The Compulsive Traveler” series that has aired periodically on CBS TV in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco since 2002, covering romance, culture and adventure in such far-flung destinations as Tahiti and New Zealand, Mexico and Fiji.

The show, which launched a television persona whose travel addiction can only be cured by repeated injections of wanderlust, imparts a contagious enthusiasm not only for travelling but also for jumping into travel adventures with both feet and a finger on the shoot button. “All travellers are essentially storytellers,” says Mitrotti, “and the next best thing to having adventures is having a campfire to tell your stories around. User generated video on the Web is the next great campfire.”

In taking advantage of the convergence of the Web and TV, the Compulsive Traveler invites compulsive travellers to upload clips at www.compulsivetraveler.tv. From the 50 best videos – as selected by a panel of film experts – visitors to the site will select the best nine videos. The producers of the nine winning videos will be awarded $500 each in royalties and featured in a Compulsive Traveler national cable show.

• Uploaded  videos must be no more than 2 minutes in length
• Deadline to upload: 31 December 2007 (upload requirements at www.compulsivetraveler.tv
• Submit as many videos as you like
• Anyone can vote on the selection of the 9 best videos
• Videos from the site’s production team (RPM Media) will not be considered

Among the expert judges: Alan Capper, who combined a career in journalism with film, television and media to become chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi’s global communications firm, headquartered in New York, in 1992. He is executive producer of “The Face of War,” the story of Martha Gellhorn, the first woman war correspondent and wife of Ernest Hemingway, now in pre-production with M R Films based in Dublin, Ireland.

Highly personal and anecdotal, www.compulsivetraveler.tv links compulsive travellers and video wanderers who upload their short films with the aim of sharing their travellers’ tales.
