The Cesis Castle is surrounded with parks and lakes. This makes the castle incredibly beautiful. The town's people have just let everything grow which gives it a spooky medieval feel. Walking through the ruins this day was just perfect for getting a feeling of an unique atmosphere. We were alone in the castle and the grey wheather gave the castle an even more spooky impression.

Excavations at Durrington Walls, near the legendary Salisbury Plain monument, uncovered recently an ancient village found near Stonehenge. Archaeologists believe that people who lived in this settlement built the mysterious circle shaped stone structure Stonehenge.

Tsodilo Hills in Botswana is also known as the “Mountains of the Gods” and the Bushmen`s sacred place. There are over 4500 rock paintings. This makes Tsodilo one of the highest concentrations of rock art in the world. It is also the first and only World Heritage Site in Botswana.

What is it like to stay in a haunted castle? There are rumours that Finavon castle on the grounds of our self-catering lodging is haunted. Before arriving in Scotland, I read various histories of the castle on paranormal websites describing activities there. The stories did not deter my family and I from our trip. In some ways it added a sense of intrigue and mystery to our travel there.

The unusual discovery of an early medieval book of psalms in Ireland near the capital Dublin was Tuesday, 25 July 2006. Ireland's archaeologists consider it as a miracle. It was found by a construction worker. When he drove the shovel of his backhoe into a bog, he spotted something interesting; a handwritten edition of an Psalmbook from the Old Testament - the Bible. It was found together with remains from humans who lived in the Iron Age.

The cart ruts are found widespread on the main island Malta and Gozo. South of Malta I found the most impressive site to explore them. As shown on our video clip, they formed here a big traffic jam! The mysterious tracks run in pairs in various directions and criss-cross each other like railway lines. It was strange for me walking in these parallel tracks at Clapham Junction by Busket Gardens, near the Dingli Cliffs in Malta's highland. The tracks have been carved out from soft limestone rocks for over 5000 years ago.

I approached Hagar Qim eagerly from the South East side. It`s the oldest freestanding structure on Earth. Why is the earliest evidence for the use of stone for building purposes found in Malta? Illuminated in the strong sun, I could see this megalithic wonder lives up to its name. It means standing stones. The ruins from this ancient building, stands on a rocky plateau on the west coast of Malta. It overlooks the sea and the islet of Filfla. Nearby there is another ancient wonder called Mnajdra. Both buildings were partly domed and partly open to sky. Something could be explained, but no know exactly why, how and who built these buildings, also called the Copper Age Temples. So to get an impression what people did in the old time, I entered the doorway to Haqar Qim to take a thoroughly look inside.

Since I read the world famous Swiss scientist and adventurer Erich Von Danicken`s fantasyful theories about the cart ruts at the highland in Malta, I have been obsessed of these strange parallel tracks.

Archaeologists have discovered an ancient pyramid buried under a hill on the outskirts of Mexico City. The pyramid is believed be 1,500 years old and was built by the same ancient people who constructed the Teotihuacan complex, known as the City of the Gods. For Mexico, this wonder is expected to be a new big tourist attraction.

The discovery of the Coptic written papyruses manuscripts were annonced 6 April 2006 at National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C. National Geographic News is part of the National Geographic Society. Some biblical scholars consider the Gospel of Judas as the most significant archaeological discovery in 60 years. The only known surviving copy of the gospel was found in a codex, or ancient book, that dates back to the third or fourth century A.D. It tells another story than in the Bible: Jesus was not betrayed by Judas!

When the Inca Empire fell, the Incas took many of their mysteries with them. One of the greatest mysteries is found at Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, Peru. Ollantaytambo is a massive citadel located about 50 kilometres from Machu Picchu, but it was also built for serving a higher purpose than this. It was far beyond my imagination when tried to understand how the Incas could be able to bring such gigantic blocks of stone to the top of the mountain from the quarries many kilometres away, and how have they shaped the stones to fit so well together? And perhaps the biggest question: what was the purpose of this construction? Why did the people in ancient time make so big efforts to build this amazing wonder of world?

El Dorado - an utopian dream or based on reality? The astonishing movie Aguirre, the Wrath of God from 1977, is based on historical circumstances. A few decades after the destruction of the Inca empire, a Spanish expedition leaves the mountains of Peru and descends to the Amazon river in search of gold, wealth and power. It doesn't take long time before they encounter big difficulties.

European Space Agency - ESA - explores the space. Based on information which their Sattelite Mars Express has gathered, there is a northern light on the red planet Mars. In the northern part of the land of the midnight sun, Norway, the rays of light shoot down from the space. It forms draperies which spread all over the sky. These wonder of the world has been connected with superstition, mythology and fairy tales. It has also inspired artists and poemers. It must be the world`s best light show. Now there is found a similar light phenomenon out in the space.

Are the ancient wonders made of the Incans messages for the future? Cuzco, the capital of the Incan Empire, was built out of stone and adorned with gold. Both in the city and in the environment around, there are great wonders as Qorikancha - Coricancha - the famous sun temple of Qosqo, San Blas Church, La Companía Church - once Inca Huayna Capac's palace, The Cathedral - was built over the ruins of the palace of the Inca Viracocha, the huge stone structure Sacsayhuaman, Q'enqo - Kenko - a temple dedicated to Mother Earth, Puca Pukara - the Fortress Watchtower, Tambomachay - the Inca Baths, Laqo, Lanlakuyoq and Kusilluchayoq - old observatories and ceremonial sites, the lost city Machu Picchu and Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley - Valle Sagrado. What is so special with these monuments, and how are they connected?

Bolivia is full of wonderful og mysterious archaeological sites. In the late afternoon July 2002, I was determinded to explore one of Bolivia`s greatest wonders near Puno, the Sillustani. Inspired from exploring another prehistoric site on my tour called Tiwanaku, I went out in the Bolivian highland and arrived just in time to experience the sunset. It gave the mysterious site an even more strange atmosphere. Viewing the ruines from the old Chullpas culture, with the clear blue Lake Umayo in the background, was an unforgettable moment that really turned me on.
