Music & Dance
Here we present reviews of the most exciting traditional music and dance.

You`ll Never Walk Alone, Liverpool - Performed by the Bedouin Ibrahim from Jordan - Whats our video clip!

2005-09-23
From Liverpool this beautiful song has spreaded around the world - even to the harsh deserts in Jordan. This song brings joy and happiness, and its joins people across nations, oceans, mountains and also deserts. I told the Bedouins about the fantastic football club Liverpool F.C. and the people from Liverpool. They stay together in good and bad times. Bedouins and people from Liverpool have very different lifestyle and culture, but one thing they have in common is unique hospitality and good guts.

Photo. The Bedouins enjoyed their own traditional songs, but also "You`ll Never Walk alone".

Learning Bedouions to sing the Liverpool song "You`ll Never Walk Alone" was something special. Bedouins are still practicing old musical traditions. In a big tent far out in the desert I had with a great time playing music and singing along with them.

My choice for a song was "You'll Never Walk Alone". I told the Bedouins about Liverpool Fotball Club, but also about the people`s life, culture and unique hospitality. The Bedouins are really a great people too. They also have an unique hospitality and good guts just as the citiziens in Liverpool.

It was enjoyable to tell them about how this song lifted Liverpool F.C to great heights after the supporters song it so enthusiastic after the first half against AC Milan in the Champion League Finale this year (2005). The Italian team leaded 3-0, but in the second half Liverpool turned the match and equalised to 3-3. In the penalty shooting Liverpool finally won the long and hard match.

It amazing how emotional touched people become of this song is, and how it reaches across all boundaries across the world. There are so many stories relating to this song, and so many memories cross my mind each time I sing or hear the beautiful song. This is the anthem for supporters of Liverpool Football Club, but it means so much more for people in Liverpool. For the Bedouins in Jordan it also means something special......

It's long time I heard about Bedouins and other Jordanians reputation for being especially friendly. Through my 2 weeks journey in July 2005 in Jordan I was never asked about religion or other sensitive matters. What really counts for the people in Jordan is the visitors' personality: attitude and behaviour! This people friendliness it's not only experienced by me.

As Lonely Planet writes on its website: "Jordan is, on the whole, peaceful. More than that, it's one of the most welcoming, hospitable countries in the world. Where else could you leave your belongings on the street for hours at a time, and find them there when you get back? Where else do total strangers with nothing to sell invite you into their homes?" As the Bedouin Ibrahim said to me: Hate and fighting is just waste of life! In Jordan the probably the biggest sin a person can commit, is not giving food and drinks to a person who really need it. See for yourself how Lonely Planet considers people from Jordan and the country: Lonely Planet - Jordan.

How it is to go to Jordan and Liverpool is perfectly described in the song "Ferry 'cross The Mersey", which is about Liverpool and the people there. One of the top Liverpool beat groups of the early 1960s, Gerry and the Pacemakers, had a big hit with this song. The lyric in song goes like this:
So ferry 'cross the Mersey
and always take me there
the place I love.
People around ev'ry corner
they seem to smile and say:
we don't care what your name is boy
we'll never turn you away!

I am absolute sure that the Bedouins and other Jordanians in general will impress other travellers than me. I will just say to them: Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone - in Jordan! The inhabitants will take good care of you!

Liverpool Fotball club is among the best team in the world. The club`s number of triumphs are numerous. But it stretches so much further than that.......
