Risky stunt on Mount Everest

2003-12-30
Drove down the mountain on ski
One Slovenian ski instructor has as the first man in the world drove down the world's highest mountain Mount Everest. 38 year old Davo Karnicar used only 5 hours to ski down the 8848 metres high mountain to the base camp on 5340 meters.

The 7th October was Davo Karnicar`s historical day for his fantastic ski descent in Nepal. He just took some few breaks and didn't take off his skis. Look below of some of his unique photos from his expedition and extreme sport performance (from his web site: www.everest.simobil.si):

Photo (left): Skiing down the Mount Everest. The thrill goes on…

Photo (above): Everest summit, as seen from Khala Patar through a telelens.

I have planned this for a long time, writes Karnicar on his web site. Already in 1996 his big venture dream started. He added that he made this trip without getting frost injuries. Karnicar had a camera bound to his helmet, so he could film his stunt trip down the steep mountain hills.

Photo: Skiing under iceblocks. Nearly 200 climbers have lost their life trying to reach the summit.

Some people take definitely higher risks than other. In one way it is incredible impressing, but how far will you go to risk your life for an extraordinary experience?
