Philippe Goitschel broke the mythical border on ski

The French Philippe Goitschel beat Tuesday the 23 April 2002 the world record in speed skiing. He slide down the steep mountain hillside in Les Arcs at the French Alps in a speed of 250,70 km/h.
Philippe Goitschel, become the first man to pass the mythical border of 250 km/h on skis. The former world record was held since 1999 by the Austrian Harry Egger, who reached a speed of 248,105 km/h. For ladies, Carine Dubouchet, holds the record of 242,26 km/h.

On Goitschel`s website he describes ski speeding as a sport of continuously excitement and exploration.

He considers this sport as rich on human and technical values: competition, going beyond of oneself, search for challenges and use of new technology. Ski speeding is the fastest sport without "motorization".
