Rwenzori Mountains National Park – Mountains of the Moon - Uganda – selected by Lonely Planet as the best area for trekking in the world!

Rwenzori Mountains National Park is the location of Africa's third highest peak, Mount Margherita at 5109 metres. Rwenzori Mountains National Park protects the eastern slopes and glacial peaks of the 120km-long misty Rwenzori Mountains, popularly called "Mountains of the Moon". It`s also a World Heritage Site of breathtaking natural beauty. As the staff in Lonely Planet considered it in 2001, after the national park was re-opened, they could not think of a better place in the world for hiking and mountaineering than this area.

It`s also famous for being the source of the Nile, which was first alluded to by the geographer Ptolemy circa 150 AD. Ugandans refer to their country as the "Pearl of Africa". When it comes to Rwenzori visitors can understand why.......

Everythings goes after the plan so far - the Norwegian K2 expedition is on their way up!

The Norwegians was the first expedition on the mountain this year. On Saturday the 5th of June (2005), Oystein celebrated his birthday on K2`s Base Camp. The day after, he and the other climbers was the first expedition to set foot on the mountain this year. They have already started to move equipment up on the mountain and one barrel was left on 5400 meters........

Norwegian K2 Expedition 2005 ascending the king of mountains - K2 - Chogori - between Pakistan and China

The Norwegian Vikings are on their way! This will be the first Norwegian ascent on K2, the second highest mountain in the world. They will climb by the normal route from Pakistan and plan to reach the top in the middle of July. The six members of the team are: Rolf Bae - Leader - Cho Oyu in 2003, Ms. Cecilie Skog - Cho Oyu in 2003, Everest in 2004, Trym Saeland, Oystein Stangeland, Sigurd Felde, and Per Henry Knutsen, who is the manager for the Base Camp. A lost city in Grand Canyon - Arizona - USA?

This is the unrevealed mystery of the huge canyon in USA. On April 5, 1909, the Arizona Gazette published an article about the discovery of a "great underground citadel" located in the Grand Canyon. The discovery was said to be made by G. E Kinkaid (or Kincaid as both spellings are used), while he was travelling down the Colorado River.

So far no one have been able to find this area again, and the question is: is it a really a lost city there from ancient time or was it just a fake? The mystery goes on......

Polar Explorers Liv Arnesen and Ann Bancrocft evacuated from Arctic Ocean
