Bedouins are still practicing their old musical traditions. In a big tent far out in the desert I had with a great time playing music and singing along with them. My choice for a song was "You'll Never Walk Alone". I got the honour to introduce this song. It was amazing for me to notice how emotionally touched the Bedoins become by this song. Actually all people get affected by this song, and it`s amazing to see how it reaches across all boundaries around the world.

Properties in Jordan inscribed on the World Heritage List are Petra (1985), Quseir Amra (1985) and Um er-Rasas (Kastrom Mefa'a) (2004). Until the early 20th century, Jordan was part of Palestine, most of which is now the State of Israel. The area is home to one of the oldest civilisations in the world. Archaelogical finds from the west bank of the Jordan River have been dated at around 9000 BC. With Bible stories, lost cities, nomads as the Bedouins, and Lawrence of Arabia, Jordan wakes fairytale associations. One of the most amazing wonders was created by the Nabataens people. It`s called Little Petra, the Red-Rose city, and has a high-spirited adventure in true Indiana Jones style. So this area was just perfect for one of the movies about Indiana Jones.......

The brave Norwegians gave everything, but with 30 knop strong wind on the top, heavy snow fall and 30 degrees below zero, they had no chance to reach the top.
Since the weather forcast for the coming weeks was far away from proming, they had to give up. The money for financing the expedition also ran out.
Anyway they demonstrated good courage and wise actions in everything they did.

These beautiful fjords are located in the counties of Sogn & Fjordane and Møre & Romsdal in southwestern Norway, northeast of Bergen. Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord, set 120 km from one another, are part of the west Norwegian fjord landscape, which stretches from Stavanger in the south to Andalsnes, 500 km to the northeast. Norwegian Fjords are among the seven natural sites added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. Now these sites have the same status as other nature wonders as Grand Canyon in USA and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Tourists flocks to Norway to experience the beauty of the fjords and for trekking in the high mountains around.

Finally the Norwegian team has started its way up to the top on K2 from basecamp 2 - from the Pakistan side (4 August - night to Thursday). The six members of the team are: Rolf Bae - Leader, Ms. Cecilie Skog, Trym Saeland, Oystein Stangeland, Sigurd Felde, and Per Henry Knutsen, who is the manager for the Base Camp.
It has been several weeks of impation waiting. However, the weather forecast is not to good and they might have to stop and return. Only time will show. Other expeditions have started out the night before, but the Norwegian team did not want to break the roule: not to access the mountain befor 24 hours after last snow-fall. Will they make it?

Are you willing to take the risk to explore the last frontiers on this planet on your own? Or could it be a better and safer way to do it with the right tour operator? It`s a big difference of the quality of tour operators around the world offering adventure and expedition tours. To improve their products and services many of them encourage travellers to give them feedback. What`s the main criteria for finding the best tour operatour and evaluating them?

How to find the best tour guide - travel guide? Many tour operators today encourage their travellers to give them feedback. Probably the most important issues to give feedback on are how their tour guides do the job. Tour guides should give you the chance to explore the world in a better and safer way than on your own. They can make your tour unforgettable or they can just waste your time and money.

As one of the most welcoming, hospitable people in the world, the people in Jordan have their own rituals for guests. The first gesture which is associated with Bedouins hospitality is offering tea. The second is also related to drinking and it take you to new heights, or shall I say causes frightening visions.

Hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, the rock-carved city of Petra is full of mysterious charm. The approach through the cool gloom of the Siq, a long narrow gorge whose steeply rising sides all but obliterate the sun, provides a dramatic contrast with the magic to come. Suddenly the gorge opens into a natural square dominated by Petra's most famous monument, the Khasneh, whose intricately carved facade glows in the dazzling sun.

Suomenlinna fortress is the largest fortress in the world. It`s not only a major military monument worthy of the UNESCO World Heritage List, but also home to about 900 Finns who live in the renovated barracks. For me walking around there for some hours one sunny day in July 2005, could enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and explore the walls, rooms, chambers and labyrinths.

So far they have been at the mountain for 57 days. The last 3 days from 11 to 14 July have been uncertain due to turbulent weather. With a positive weather forecast, the members started out on a 4-5 day period on Sunday. However, the weather got worse yesterday. Heavy snowfall forced all members in the expedition down from the mountain. Before this all the Norwegian members passed the 7000-border, and established Camp 3. They still need to be patient before they make their attemp to the top!

Far in the desert in Dana, south in Jordan, the condition for living is impossible, except for the Bedouin people. They live so close to the nature that they knew each inch of it, and can make their life sustainable. By walking through deep canyons and high mountains, I reached the sandy and rocky desert area where the Bedouins live.
Everywhere I showed up by a camp, I was invited in to the people's tents for tea and for cooling down in the shadow. The weather was extremely warm, and so was the heart of the people

He is 21 year, from Arendal in Norway. At the moment he is finishing an unusual tour on ski. On 16 June he started on an almost 500 kilometres tour on skiing through Denmark, from the border to Germany to Skagen. Norwegians are born with ski on their feet, and so is Eirik. Just as famous Norwegian polar explorers as Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen, he also likes expeditions on ski, but not on snow. Sand is much better for him. When he has finnished the skiing in Denmark, he is ready for something bigger. As he dream abouts: crossing Sahara on ski. This is another wild expedition from Norway!
The Sahara is the world's largest subtropical desert. To get an impression how large Sahara is, this land area can be compared with the entire land area of the whole United States of America (including all states). The Norwegian Viking Eirik will be crossing countries as Mauritania, Morocco and Algeria in north Africa. On his way he should expect to handle many challenges, for instance the heat ..........
