The beautiful Trakai Castle is located in Trakai, Lithuania. Its the ancient capital in the country, and has a bloody history. The construction of the stone castle begun in the 14th century by Kestutis. It was built as a fortress but after the Battle of Grünenwald in 1410 it became the residence of the Grand Duke. Later it was used as a prison, and now its a popular tourist attraction.

Theory points to possible connection with nearby Birch Island. For the past two centuries, the tunnels of Nova Scotia`s Oak Island have piqued the imagination of historians and treasure hunters alike. Now, a new theory by First Nations researcher Keith Ranville may add fresh speculation to the mystery. Based on a unique reading of an inscription once found in the Money Pit, Mr. Ranville believes that the answer to the riddle may be found on nearby Birch Island.

I had only just arrived in Casablanca - Casa to locals - and decided to get straight into the heart of it. I wandered through the teeming medina, where you can buy anything from sweet dates to leather goods to MP3s of the latest Maroc hits - then out into the city and into a giant slum area. I have to admit I was a bit nervous. I just kept walking like I knew where I was going and eventually found myself near the sea.

When USA prepared to send men to the moon in the 1960s, the organisation NASA used Vatnajokull as a training ground. Some scenes from the recent James Bond movies have been shot there. A more dramatic landscape can hardly be found in the world!

Polè, polè! About 20,000 climbers attempt to reach the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania each year, the highest peak in Africa. Around 70 % of them succeed. Climbing high peaks can make people famous and admired. They get their names and photo in media. It also make them admired among friends and colleagues. After climbing Kilimanjaro in July 2003 one thing stands clear for me: the porters are the real heroes of Kilimanjaro.

The dramatic ascent the Italian Franco Mount Franco D'Astassi did was incredible. He knew that Mount Kenya Mt. Kenya is the second highest peak in Africa after Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, but that didnt stop him. The mountain is located in the central highlands a couple of hundred kilometres north of the equator. It is here where the Kikuyu god ngai resides. The name of the country Kenya has been known to have been derived from Mount Kenya which was formerly known as Mount Kirinyaga.
