This trail
opened last summer (2003). In an beautiful scenery it's possible to experience
some of the sites which are connected to the famous Austrian musician Mozart. It
goes through the SalzburgerLand (Austria),
Bayern (Germany
) and Tyrolean.
On the route
there are signposts with the Mozart head on. You find the signs in both
directions, but it's recommended to cycle towards the sun. The tour starts from
Salzburg, also called
the City of Mozart. Read more
about it on www.salzburg.com/tourismus_e/
Photo. Statue of Mozart in
Salzburg city center.
In Salzburg you can
visit the house were Mozart was born and lived. The cycling trail leads in
the beginning past Maria
Plain
pilgrimage church where Mozart's "Coronation Mass" was performed in 1779.
Next possible stop along the cycling path is St.
Gilgen, the town where Mozart's mother was born and his sister "Nannerl"
got married. And so on where you can find other places connected to the
great Austrian composer and musican. |
 |
The Austrian
part of the route leads past Oberndorf with the "Quite-Night-Chapel. At Laufen
in Germany you
can cycle trough a sea landscape with the monastery Seeon, which Mozart often
visited and here he also composed. The tour is easy to cycle. It's just between
InnValley and Salzburg that it's a
high difference in the altitude. Don`t forget to check the brakes on your
bikecycle before you drive down the steep hills. But anyway take the
altitude as an challenge. The the beautiful view will encourage you up
the steep trails.
