Iceland: A real natural wonder!

It describes the features of Reykjavik and Snæfellsjokull, the volcano that is served as the gateway to the centre of the earth. This adventurous journey is just what I got some tastes of when I entered Iceland.

The capital Reykjavik
Most of Reykjavik's sights are in the Old Town, the area bordered by Tjörn, Lækjargata, the harbour and the suburb of Seltjarnarnes.

The harbour area is the main tourist area. Modern Reykjavik has sprawled eastward from the Old Town across the low hills. I also visited the Viking Village at Fjorukrain (Fjorugardurinn).

According to the famous Icelandic author Snorri Sturluson, the Vikings had their own way to express their feelings (Heimskringla or The Chronicle of the Kings of Norway - The Ynglinga Saga, or The Story of the Yngling Family from Odin to Halfdan the Black, by Snorri Sturluson (1179 - 1241).

Natural wonders
Iceland (Island) has several natural wonders as glaciers including Europe’s largest called Vatnajökull, beautiful waterfalls, fantastic fjords and romantic shores, clean air and clean water, hot springs, from colourful steaming fields to the spouting springs of Geysir, bizarre lava landscapes, bird watching, midnight sun, whales and northern lights.

Geysir
Geysir contains the country's best examples of spouting hot springs. The Great Geysir has a stand-in - the nearby Strokkur. This spring faithfully spouts and sprays up to 20m (65.5ft) every three minutes, Gullfoss is two-tiered waterfall, and when the sun shines, it’s possible to see a rainbow.

Bathing in the Blue Lagoon
For they who like to take a bath in Iceland, the Blue Lagoon is definitely the place. The Blue Lagoon is a pool of geothermal seawater in the middle of a moss-covered lava field called Illahraun/Evil Lava. This is one of the most interesting places to visit in Iceland.

The Blue Lagoon is a combination of many factors. The most important being the origin of the geothermal seawater from 2,000 meters beneath the surface.

Culture in Iceland
When it comes to culture Iceland, two of Iceland’s most famous music artists are Björk Guðmundsdóttir and Sigur Ros.
